Saints and composers, such as Thyagaraja, Annamacharya, and Ramadasu, used music to express their devotion and to connect with their inner selves. Additionally, music transcends religious boundaries, fostering social development and community love, and providing abundant stress relief in our hectic lifestyle.

Vizianagaram holds a prominent place in India's rich artistic heritage. The city has produced renowned contributors to various art forms, including music. The people of Vizianagaram possess immense potential to explore and develop their talents and passions through these artistic expressions. Recognizing this potential, the Rotary Dasigi Perraju Music Academy aims to cultivate a love for music among people of all ages all over the world. This initiative seeks to preserve India's rich cultural heritage and contribute to building a strong and vibrant world.

The Rotary Dasigi Perraju Music Academy is a unit of the Rotary DNR School of Arts, previously known as the DNMM School, which was established in 1961 in memory of the renowned musician Sri Dwaram Narasinga Rao. Founded by Sri Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao, the school provided music education to many students, some of whom went on to become professionals and teachers, including “Padmasri” Smt. Avasarala Kanyakumari. However, the school faced brief periods of closure due to various reasons. In 2022, the Rotary Club of Vizianagaram took initiative to revive the facility. Commemorating his father’s birth centenary, a past president of the club, Dr. D.V. Srikanth, along with his family members, established the Rotary Dasigi Perraju Music Academy under the aegis of the school. This new academy aims to provide comprehensive music education under the guidance of Dr. Mandapaka Ravi and other experienced musicians.

The Rotary Dasigi Perraju Music Academy, established in September 2022, offers a variety of music courses, including classical and devotional vocals, instruction on instruments like Mridangam, Veena, Violin, Keyboard, Guitar, and Flute and other forms like Harikatha and Namasankeertanam. This curriculum is offered in four proficiency levels starting from primary, catering to the diverse interests of aspiring musicians, and ensuring the academy's role in nurturing and preserving Vizianagaram's rich musical heritage for generations to come.
